Our Process
We believe great design is built on trust, collaboration, and clarity. Our process is personal, practical, and designed to guide you from early ideas to a finished set of plans—always tailored to your needs, budget, and vision.
Here’s what it looks like to work together:
Phase 1: Design
This is where ideas take shape. Whether we’re starting from scratch or modifying an existing plan, we’ll work closely with you to understand your goals, lifestyle, and vision.
We begin with a conversation—and a lot of questions—to understand your needs and your goals. The design process is all about you, so getting to know you is our first goal.
If your project is an addition or renovation, the next step is a detailed survey of your existing home to understand what we’re working with—its structure, conditions, and opportunities.
Once we understand your goals and any existing conditions, we begin the design process by using sketches to explore layout options, general building massing, and shape of the overall design direction.
As the design develops, you’ll get to see your future space through 3D modeling—no guesswork, just clarity.
We’ll make refinements together until the design feels right.
During this process we want to get to know your style. Whether that comes from a shared Pinterest board, Houzz favorites, or magazine clippings, we encourage you to share what you love—and what you don’t—so we can design something that truly fits you.
At the end of this phase, we recommend getting budgetary cost estimates from one or more contractors to confirm the design aligns with your budget before moving into detailed drawings.
Phase 2: Construction Documentation
Once the design is finalized, we create a clear, buildable set of drawings ready for permitting and construction.
These construction documents are tailored to each client and project. Some projects call for a light touch—just enough detail to secure permits and guide construction. Others benefit from a more comprehensive set detailing every aspect of the construction and interior design. We’ll determine the right level of documentation based on your goals, builder preferences, and project complexity.
We collaborate with engineers and other consultants as needed to provide a complete and accurate set.
All drawings are code-compliant, coordinated, and practical for builders.
But our involvement doesn’t stop when the drawings are done. We stay connected—through site visits, ongoing coordination, and direct communication with your builder—helping to ensure your vision is realized, questions are answered, and surprises are minimized. This collaborative approach keeps the process smooth, grounded, and client-focused from start to finish.
When you work with us, you don’t just get a set of plans—you get a partner.
